Though it’s an expensive approach, many people seem to like
to use Receivers and Push-Lock Studs on both ends of a long run. The double
tensioner with Push-Lock Stud approach does allow you to go around up to 180°
of turns, which does save money vs. three stops and starts. That’s one of the
many options available to folks using Ultra-tec hardware for their cable
railing system.
But how do you install it? Here’s how:
Thread the Push-Lock studs 3/8” into the Receiver on both
ends of your cable run and install the Receiver/Push-Lock Studs into the end
posts. At Side 1, insert the cable into the Push-Lock Stud until it bottoms
out, and pull back to engage jaws. At Side 2, pull cable taut next to
Receiver/Push-Lock Stud, cutting cable 1-3/16” beyond the cable entrance to the
Push-Lock Stud. Unthread the Push-Lock Stud from the Receiver at Side 1 so you
can insert the cable into the Receiver/ Push-Lock Stud at Side 2. Once the
cable is engaged by the jaws at Side 2, thread the Push-Lock Stud back into the
Receiver at Side 1. To tension, turn both sides evenly turn for turn on either
end until desired tension is achieved.
Now you know!
